MONTH OF MAY
Hey y’all. It’s been awhile since I posted something, uh, post-worthy. So, here we go. Back-up plans. Everybody’s gotta have ‘em! It’s becoming increasingly more of a prevailing (and somewhat distressing) notion that getting into the vidja game industry is difficult. Now, don’t get me wrong; I wouldn’t want you to think that I’ve given up entirely. But at the same time, I would hate to continue down this path and know that I will no longer have the heart for it at some point. I love games too much to want to be jaded because of the reality of how it operates. All I know is that if you’re investing in something that really doesn’t have any heart in it, be it the industry as a whole, or the people you’d want to associate yourself with, then it might be time to leave. Or put it aside for now. Neither of which I’m committing to.

Rather, I’m simply broadening my artistic pursuits to include other things I love doing apart from JUST designing games. I like to write (if the severe case of bloggorhea wasn’t obvious enough), I like to draw and illustrate characters; heck, put those two together and you get a comic book, y’know? I’ve never been one to confine myself to just one skillset; I guess it’s my short attention-span, ADD, or being terribly indecisive, but hey, it comes with being an artist. I’ve had some sweet t-shirt designs that I’ve been really wanting to get printed out and onto people. Also, I’ve decided to get deeper with video editing; I’ve always enjoyed it for the longest time, even with my craptacular entry-level Windows Movie Maker skills. I think I have a thing for montages. Blame the Grey’s Anatomy and every other primetime television show! ;)

Finally, I’ve made a second large investment this year (the first being a tablet for Photoshop): a MinoHD Flip camera! I want to start documenting and creating STUFF, be it vlogs or simple stupid skits, ANYTHING really. Imagination. Stories. I’ve made the necessary steps and gone ahead and jumpstarted a YouTube channel for this, so we shall see where this goes! Should be fun! And of course, I’ll still be dabbling in game-related projects.

I guess this post was rather misleading. It wasn’t really about back-up plans hahaha. Just adding more endeavors to a very artistic-minded lifestyle. Impovershed? Yes, possibly. Bohemian-esque? Maybe. But if you asked me if I’d prefer being creative over a mundane, tedious cubicle dayjob for a paycheck… yes, I would. Any day! Indie hearts underground!
Smell ya laters!
