OH, GODDAMNIT
Dagummit. So, last night my PS3 Slim decided to magically stop reading discs. Everything else works perfectly fine, except for that all-important part of reading game discs lol. Which purdy much means my PS3 is like, half-useless. Le sigh. I’m gunna go out today and buy me one of those lens cleaner CD things. Really hoping it’s just my disc-tray being uber-dusty or something. If it’s the laser, then buying disc-based games is boned lol.
Why??? Augh. Dear “next-generation” consoles, despite your technology and hardware being marketed as superior, I can really do without your error codes, red rings of death and yellow light of death. Whenever I blew into my old NES game cartridges, it magically cured any problems and just worked. Take note y’all. I still have my NES as opposed to some folks who are on their THIRD Xbox 360.
UPDATE: I bought a PS3-specific lens cleaning DVD. Popped it in; good news is that at least my PS3 can read DVDs. Did the whole cleaning thing, then tried out my games again. But they didn’t work. WTF. So the laser is reading DVDs fine, but not Blu-Ray games. Which means there’s something else wrong with it. And by something else, I mean something retarded. Gunna have to restore my PS3 to default settings and see if that works. If THAT doesn’t work, gunna have to factory restore it. And if THAT doesn’t work… augh. FML.
UPDATE: Yep, the Blu-Ray laser biffed it. It’s either send it to Sony to “fix” for around $150, or just buy a brand new Slim. I’m probably just going to buy a new one since it’s only $150 more than trying to fix it and be without my console for an indeterminable amount of time.
It’s just such a shame, I think I’m losing this game
